The basketball team of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, the host of 2023 West African Universities Games (WAUG) has defeated her counterparts from University of Ibadan and Federal University of Oye-Ekiti in the match scheduled for today.
It was learnt that the matches came in two categories. The first category was between team OAU and team FUOYE while the second category was between the host, team OAU and team FUOYE.
In the first category, OAU won FUOYE with 18 – 10 while in the second, category, OAU defeated UI with 19-16.
It was gathered that the matches between the both categories were played from 10am to 11am today.
Recall that Osun Defender had earlier reported that the basketball match will hold by 8am on Tuesday but the match couldn’t hold at the time slated early, due to some logistics reasons.
WAUG, also known as the ECOWAS Students Games, is a multi-sport event between student-athletes from West African universities.
