We Are Not Intimidated by APC’s Ankara Carnival – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogbomoso Zone has dismissed what it described as attempts by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to intimidate voters through a recent political rally in the town, insisting that the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration remain the party’s strongest campaign asset.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the PDP leadership in the zone described the APC’s unity rally as an “Ankara carnival,” saying it posed no threat to the party’s popularity or grassroots support in Ogbomoso.
The party maintained that good governance, rather than political showmanship, is the true measure of strength, stressing that Governor Makinde’s record of performance across Oyo State has continued to earn him widespread acceptance.
“We are not intimidated by any Ankara carnival or rented crowd paraded in Ogbomoso,” the statement read. “The people of Ogbomoso are enlightened and can clearly distinguish between propaganda and genuine governance. Governor Seyi Makinde’s achievements speak louder than noise-making.”
The PDP said it was ironic for critics who claim the governor has achieved nothing to have travelled on recently reconstructed roads, including the Ibadan–Iseyin and Iseyin–Ogbomoso corridors, to attend the APC rally.
Accusing the opposition of resorting to theatrics due to a lack of tangible achievements, the PDP reaffirmed its confidence ahead of future elections, urging residents to continue supporting the Makinde-led administration for sustained development.
