One of the governorship aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jide Sanwo-Olu, has said that he will restore the lost glories of Lagos State, if elected as the next governor.
Sanwo-Olu said this on Sunday during a press briefing barely 24 hours to the governorship primary.
He said, “A vote for me tomorrow to become a candidate of the APC would be a vote for taking Lagos to a higher and a bigger and a better level.
“It would be a vote to bring back all of the lost glories in Lagos State, be it in health, in education, transportation, in environment, in direct foreign development, we will bring it back to Lagos State and we will remain the first”.
His comments also come hours after incumbent governor Akinwunmi Ambode, his opponent in the race for who to secure the party’s ticket in 2019, made various allegations, albeit without mentioning his name.
Governor Ambode had said that his opponent was not fit to run for the position, adding that the leadership of the party had been misled to believe that he was a better candidate than himself (Ambode).
The governor also alleged among other things, that (he) had been arrested in the United States for spending fake American dollars.
In response Sanwo-Olu said, “When others are playing low, we will continue to play high.
“We will not begin to get into any issues with anybody, the party who is the symbol that we all have, will respond accordingly to all of the various things that have come up earlier today.
“We are focused as a campaign organization, I am personally very focused and I’m happy to say that I feel elated, I feel as if tomorrow should be today because I know that our APC members will come out and they will make a right choice”.
