The All Progressives Congress in the state of Osun has again reiterated its promise to ensure a level playing ground for all its governorship aspirants and a credible process that will produce the best candidate for the party and the state.
The APC has hosted some of the 27 aspirants that registered with it as at Sun, June 10, 2018.
However, as their robust flag off campaign continues at the Party’s secretariat in Osogbo, the APC enjoined the aspirants to continue to pursue their ambitions in the friendly and carnival-like atmosphere that has shaped campaign in the state.
In a statement from the Party’s Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy, signed by its Director, Kunle Oyatomi and made available to the media in Osogbo, the APC called for the sustained unity of purpose and great sportsmanship from the aspirants, in the build up to July 7th, when the primary would hold.
According to the APC, “the people of Osun have great expectations from the party to perform as excellently at the primary as it had done in governance during the last memorable seven and half years in the history of the state”.
The party admonished the aspirants to show themselves as ‘worthy ambassadors’ of the APC “who the masses of our people can look up to and trust to give their best in service to the state”.
Reacting to the rumoured fears that the outcome of the primary might have been ‘precast’, the APC urged party members and aspirants to ignore such rumours as they are baseless and figment of the imagination of the opposition who are desperate for power in order to loot the state again as they did between 2003 and 2010.’.
The APC reminded the aspirants that “they are respectable members of the ruling party from whom a lot is expected in both their action and reaction, before, during and after the primary.
“There will be only one victor in the primary, the party said, adding that “the game is not one in which the winner takes all; so, if you are not the victor in that exercise, there are abundant possibilities left to compensate everybody.
“As the saying goes, united we stand, but divided we fall. The primary must not divide us. Whatever its outcome, we must unite to win in September, not only in our own best interest, but also in the interest of the state and the good people of Osun”, the APC concluded.
