We’re Not Distracted By Opposition Noise – Gov Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has declared that he remains unfazed by criticisms from opposition parties in the state, describing their actions as mere noise-making with no serious political intent.

Otti made this known on Tuesday while receiving Nnamdi Ibekwe, the lawmaker representing Bende North State Constituency, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling Labour Party.

He stated that most opposition members are not in the race to win but are seeking political recognition or negotiating future positions.

“We are not bothered about the oppositions and their noise. Sometimes, people just want their names to appear in the primaries even when they know they won’t win. Others come for negotiations or to project themselves for future relevance,” Otti said.

He added that his focus is to fulfil the mandate given to him by Abians through good governance and developmental projects.

“Our response is work. We are committed to delivering results. Governance is about stewardship and leadership, and that’s our focus,” he added.

Congratulating Ibekwe on his defection, Otti noted that his move was voluntary and welcomed him as a ranking member of the Labour Party.

He said Ibekwe would be officially received at a formal event soon.

Ibekwe said he joined the Labour Party because of Otti’s track record, which he described as unprecedented, and pledged his support for the governor’s 2027 re-election.

He was accompanied by stakeholders from Bende North, including Agriculture Commissioner Dr Cliff Agbaeze, LP stalwart Chief Uwakwe Maduka, former Boundary Commissioner Mr Mascot Obike, and APC spokesperson Mr Okey Ezeala.
