President Muhammadu Buhari has given further assurance that insecurity in all parts of the country would be tackled and soon become a thing of the past.
President Buhari made the affirmation while speaking with Northern Governors at Aso Rock on Thursday.
Recall Osun Defender had yesterday reported that some of Northern Governors met President Muhammadu Buhari, at Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
Osun defender learnt that the Governors were led by the chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong.
Other Governors who attended the meeting were Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi; Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna; Mai Mala-Buni of Yobe, Abubakar Bello of Niger; and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa.
The Governors took turns to narrate how insecurity has affected their respective states and sought the help of the federal government in overcoming the challenges.
The President in his response assured the Governors that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring banditry, kidnapping, and all forms of insecurity in the North and Nigeria as a whole is crushed.
Governor Lalong who addressed newsmen after the meeting said security topped the agenda of their discussions with the President and described the meeting as very fruitful.
According to him, “Well, this meeting is in respect of some of the common features of insecurity that we have within our states. You’ll recall that many of the states have some of the insecurities that are very similar.
“So we put them together and see how to address some of those issues. And we felt that we must also meet Mr. President about it since it is about insecurity.”
“I think these are not to be disclosed because these are about security. But the take away I say is that the meeting with the President was very fruitful and we are also very committed, and we have seen a lot of commitment, so we are waiting for implementation.
“The assurance I will give you is that based on this meeting, we will also wait to see the commitment, and Mr President has given us that assurance”, he said.
