Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has disclosed that his administration had commenced work on the modalities for the implementation of new minimum wage for government workers in the state.
Adeleke made this known on Saturday while speaking at the grand finale of the 14th convocation of Osun State University, held at the main campus of the institution in Osogbo.
The Governor noted that his administration had been supporting various initiatives that would enhance the growth of the institution.
The governor, who noted that the removal of fuel subsidies had imposed challenges on workers, assured them that his administration would not spare any effort to mitigate the impact on workers in government’s employment.

He added that in the last one year, the state government had supported the university to complete an office complex at the Isale-Osun campus to meet the university’s requirements for health-related programme accreditations.
“We have also supported the university towards the construction of its ultra-modern Anatomy Complex which we commissioned earlier today. We have also prioritised the construction of roads leading to the student area at Sasha Market and other campuses of our University.
“We paid a year’s arrears promptly to the staff members. We have also paid palliative allowances to all workers, and we are currently working on the modalities for the implementation of the newly approved minimum wage,” Adeleke said.
Speaking further, Adeleke admonished staff and students of the university, to remain steadfast in their responsibilities and to continue to serve the country with dedication.
He said, “The progress of this citadel of learning can only be sustained through a peaceful and harmonious environment. Let us avoid unnecessary rancour and acrimony. Instead, focus on the common goal of advancing this great institution.
“To the parents and guardians gathered here today, I urge you not to completely let go of your children as they step into the next phase of their lives.”
