Why I Should Be Addressed As Imperial Majesty – Olufon
The Palace of the Olufon of Ifon-Osun, has announced that Oba Peter Ipadeola should henceforth be addressed and accorded the title “His Imperial Majesty.”
This was made known in a communique issued on Saturday, a copy obtained by Osun Defender on Monday in Osogbo.
The palace noted that the decision was reached following due consultation with custodians of tradition, eminent chiefs, and stakeholders within the kingdom and Obatala Dynasty.
The communique stated that tradition recognised Olufon as the first son of the supernatural Obatala, adding that Orolu Kingdom stands as the ancestral source while Olufon stands as the spiritual father of all descendants of Obatala across the world.
It added that the adoption of His Imperial Majesty was not merely ceremonial, but a reflection of the elevated spiritual authority of the Olufon.
The communique read in part, “Following due consultation with custodians of tradition, eminent chiefs, and stakeholders within the kingdom and Obatala Dynasty, and in recognition of the profound historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage of Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom, it has been officially proclaimed that the Olufon of Ifon-Osun Orolu Kingdom shall henceforth be addressed and accorded the title “HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY”
“This declaration is deeply rooted in the ancient and well-established tradition that recognises Olufon of Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom as the first son of the supernatural Obatala, the revered progenitor within the Yoruba cosmology. By this unique lineage, Ifon-Osun, Orolu Kingdom stands as the ancestral source while Olufon stands as the spiritual father of all descendants of Obatala across the world.
“Consequently, Olufon occupies an exalted and sacred position as the principal spiritual authority and custodian of Obatala traditions, rites, and cultural heritage.
“The adoption of the title “His Imperial Majesty” is not merely ceremonial, but a reflection of the elevated spiritual authority of the Olufon; the historical primacy of Ifon-Osun Orolu Kingdom within the Yoruba traditional structure; the kingdom’s central role in the preservation and propagation of Obatala worship and values.
“All sons and daughters of Ifon-Osun Orolu Kingdom home and abroad, traditional rulers, institutions, and the general public are hereby enjoined to take note of this development and accord the Olufon of Ifon-Osun Orolu Kingdom the dignity, honour, and recognition due under the title “HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY”.
