Despite his omission from the list of players to face South Africa and Libya next month, Super Eagles’ captain, John Obi Mikel has revealed he remains committed to the national team, whilst revealing that he is not yet physically fit to play for his darling Super Eagles.

The former Chelsea midfielder, who spoke exclusively to AOIFootball.com from his base in China, debunked insinuations that his time with the national team was over, stressing that he will continue to support the team in all of their matches.

“I’m still not ready to come back yet. Still have some physical and fitness issues. I wish the team well and will always do.

“My commitment to the national team remains 100%; I still remain a part of the team and will always support the lads. The Nations Cup remains our ultimate goal for now and we are just one point away from reaching that target,” Mikel told only AOIFootball.com.

With just three games to the end of the Chinese Super League, the mercurial midfielder will have to focus his attention on helping Tianjin Teda remain in the top flight with the club just three points off the drop zone.
