Governor of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola might not make any serious political appointment soon, Osun Defender has learnt.

The governor, it was learnt, might further delay the appointment of the Chief of Staff to the Governor and the Secretary to the State Government, against the expectation of the people who are anxious for a CoS to be named.

Since his inauguration on November 27, 2018, the people of the state had expected that Oyetola would have appointed a Chief of Staff, because of the sensitivity and importance of the office to the running of government.

But Oyetola had only appointed a Chief Press Secretary and formed a Steering Committee since inauguration.

The Steering Committee comprised of the Governor himself, Mr Adelani Baderinwa, Engineer Remi Omowaiye, Dr Obawale Adebisi, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, Barr. Jare Adebisi, Dr Charles Akinola, Dr Olalekan Yinusa, Mr Kola Omotunde-Young, among others.

Members of the committee were also appointed by the governor to supervise some ministries among which are, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Ministry of Works and Innovation Science and Technology, Ministry of Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives and Empowerment and Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

However, Osun Defender has learnt that Oyetola would not make any serious appointment until after the forthcoming general elections, coming up on February 16 and March 2.

It was gathered that the governor wants the party to approach the general elections with a united house devoid of grievances that may ensue in the aftermath of political appointments.

Besides, information has it that the governor and other political leaders in the state were yet to conclude on the senatorial district from which the Chief of Staff is to be chosen.

Osun Defender learnt that a section of the political bigwigs was considering Ife in Osun East Senatorial District while another was making case for Iwo, where the immediate former occupant of the office, Alhaji Rasak Salinsile hails from.

Information also has it that a particular young politician from Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency where Governor Oyetola hails from, is being tipped for the job.

But there is serious agitation from Ife Zone for the CoS and it is not unlikely that the zone might be eventually considered for the position.

On the appointment of the SSG, the medium reliable gathered that the position has been conceded to Ejigbo/Ede/Egbedore Federal Constituency.
