The Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, Prof. Clement Adebooye has explained why the University silently increased the hostel accommodation fee.
Recall that Osun Defender had reported that the management of the university silently increased the hostel accommodation fee from #80,000 to #135,000, a decision which attracted reaction from parents of the newly admitted students of the institution.
However, while speaking during the inauguration of the newly elected Students’ Union leaders, in Osogbo, Professor Adebooye, attributed the increment in the charges like the hostel fees and fees for science students to the prevailing higher inflation and increasing cost of academic materials in the country.
He emphasized that despite the federal government’s policy mandating federal and state owned tertiary institutions to transfer 40% of their revenue to their owners, there will be no increment in tuition fees.
