Wike Not APC Member But Works For Tinubu‘s Govt – Ajibola Basiru
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is effectively working for the APC-led federal government under President Bola Tinubu, despite not being a member of the party.
Speaking on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, Basiru attributed the party’s success in the recent FCT local government elections to the level of infrastructural development achieved across the territory over the past two and a half years.
He said the improvements were visible not only in urban centres but also in suburban communities, describing Wike’s performance as “sterling.”
Basiru added that the minister’s administrative efforts, combined with the APC’s strategic engagement and selection of candidates with credible political records from various parties, played a key role in securing the electoral victory.
He said, “Wike is not a member of our party, but he works for an APC government headed by Tinubu.
“When you see the massive infrastructural development in the FCT, not only in urban areas but even in the suburbs, you’ll understand that the sterling performance of the FCT Minister, alongside the APC’s careful selection of candidates from different parties, contributed to our victory.
“You cannot separate the effective delivery of democratic dividends under the current FCT administration from the party’s success at the polls.”
