Chijioke Ihunwo, the newly elected Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, has removed the name of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, from the administrative block of the council secretariat.

Wike, a former Rivers governor and local council chairman, had his name boldly engraved on the building, but it’s now been replaced with the late Obi Wali, a renowned politician and activist in the state.

According to Ihunwo’s post on his X page, @AmbChijioke, “We have changed Wike’s name in the admin block of Obio/Akpor Council, and replaced with the name of SENATOR DR. OBI WALI.”

This development comes amidst a supremacy battle between Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, with the two leaders vying for control of the state’s political structures.
