Woman Arraigned for Allegedly Obstructing Environmental Officers in Ekiti
A 26-year-old woman, Omoleye Adetomiwa, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court by the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly obstructing two environmental officers in the line of duty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant, on December 5, 2025, at about 7:30 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti, unlawfully obstructed Ibitoye Temitope Samson and Ilesanmi Sefunmi, officers of the Ekiti State Environmental Management Authority.
He added that on the same date, time and place, the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace in the society.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences are punishable under Sections 187(b) and 181(1) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Her counsel, Barrister Oluwafemi S. Alabi, urged the court to grant her bail, assuring that she would not jump bail.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety, the court said, must be a responsible person.
The case was adjourned until January 22, 2026, for hearing.
