Mary Johnson, 24, was arraigned by the Police at an Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly cutting her neighbour’s head with a razor blade.
Johnson, who resides at Okito Str., Ajegunle, Lagos is standing trial on a charge of assault. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to her.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Olusegun Kokoye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June, 23 at their apartment.
Kokoye alleged that the accused assaulted her neighbour, Michael Idimoku, by beating him and used a razor blade to inflict a deep cut on his head.
The prosecutor said that a fight ensued between the duo, following an argument.
According to him, the complainant reported the case to the police and the accused was consequently arrested.
The offence, he said contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes a three-year jail term for a convicted offender.
The Senior Magistrate, M.A. Etti, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Etti adjourned the case till Jan. 4, 2018 for hearing.
