In her attempt to break up a fight among members of a church in the Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos state, a 47-year-old woman, Rachel Johnson has been stabbed to death.
The victim’s husband, Okerube Johnson, according to a senior police officer, reported the stabbing at Ikotun Police Station around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
The officer noted that Johnson explained that his wife, Rachel, had attended a crusade, and a dispute erupted among church members during the event and the victim intervened in an effort to quell the altercation.
While separating the fighters, one of them stabbed her in the neck with a sharp object, leaving her bleeding profusely.
Efforts to save her by the emergency services who rushed her to Igando General Hospital proved abortive as she succumbed to her injuries.
Rachel’s body was then transferred to Mainland General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, for a detailed autopsy.
The Lagos State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, while providing an update, stated that the perpetrator is currently at large.
“No arrests have been made yet, but law enforcement is actively pursuing the fugitive in an attempt to bring them to justice.”
