Woman, Two Children, Daughter-In-Law Burnt Alive By Bandits In Sokoto
A woman, her daughter-in-law and two children were on Sunday evening burnt alive by suspected bandits in another attack on a community in Sokoto State.
The bandits were said to have attacked Kurya village in Rabah Local Government Area of the state around 8:30 pm on Sunday.
Twelve villagers were reportedly killed by the assailants with three women abducted during the attack.
One of the abductees lost her husband during the attack, according to a resident of the area, Yusuf Garba.
He said the attackers were later engaged in a fierce battle by the army.
According to him, “Among the victims was one woman who was burnt to death along with her daughter-in-law and two children right inside their room.
“We suspect they too suffered heavy losses because we saw blood stains where they parked their motorcycles. But you know they don’t leave their corpses behind.”
The police, however, confirmed seven deaths during the attack.
The spokesman of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, added that they were still compiling casualty figures.
