Yelwata Massacre: PDP Accuses Security Agencies Of Selective Arrests
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused security agencies of carrying out selective arrests following the recent massacre in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Benue State chapter of the PDP expressed concern over what it described as a politically motivated investigation, claiming that only individuals suspected to be loyal to the party are being arrested.
The party condemned the killings that claimed several lives and displaced many residents, stating that the situation has worsened insecurity in the community.
“We condemn in strong terms the selective arrests being carried out by security agencies over the Yelwata massacre. The victims and their families deserve justice, not political witch-hunts,” the party stated.
The PDP urged security operatives to remain professional and impartial, warning that biased actions could inflame political tensions and damage public trust in law enforcement.
“Security agencies should focus on apprehending the real perpetrators, regardless of their political affiliations. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done,” the statement added.
