You Contested Kogi Gov’ship But Didn’t Vote For Yourself – PDP Chair Mocks Dino
The acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, has mocked the party candidate in the 2024 Kogi State gubernatorial election, Senator Dino Melaye over his poor performance in the election.
Osun Defender reports that Melaye came a distance third behind the All Progressives Congress candidate who emerged as the winner of the election and the candidate of the Social Democratic Party.
The medium also noted that Melaye, who is in the camp of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has been having a running battle with Damagum, whom many perceived as a loyalist of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Just two weeks ago, Melaye referred to the PDP as a “once upon a time party.”
But Damagum while reacting in an exclusive interview with DailyTrust, said, “Let me remind you about that statement credited to Dino. He’s part of the problem.
“Why? Because he ran for governor in Kogi State and didn’t even vote for himself. Put that on record: he didn’t go out to vote in his own election.

“So, I’ll leave it to you to judge based on that. Who’s really damaging the party? If the party is generous enough to give you its platform to run, you have a duty to improve its fortunes. Yes, you can win or lose, but at least lose credibly if you must.”
