You Took Off To France While Nigerians Suffer Insecurity, Hunger – Bode George Knocks Tinubu

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has accused President Bola Tinubu of jettisoning the lives and well-being of Nigerians by traveling to France at a time when the country is grappling with escalating insecurity, hunger, and economic hardship.

George described Tinubu’s trip as “shameful,” arguing that while Nigerians no longer feel safe, the administration is focused on trivial matters, such as the recall of suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In a statement titled “Whither Nigeria, My Beloved Country”, the former PDP Deputy National Chairman expressed deep concern over the state of the nation, likening the current situation to the events that led to the collapse of Nigeria’s First and Second Republics.

“Today, amid crises, insecurity, hunger, joblessness, and other vices in the country, President Bola Tinubu has taken off to Paris, France, for reasons best known to him and his handlers,” George lamented.

He continued, “Nigerians don’t feel safe anymore in their fatherland, yet the Federal Government, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Senate are only interested in recalling Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. What a shame!”

Drawing from history, George warned that the APC-led government is repeating the same mistakes that led to the downfall of past administrations.

He referenced the prophetic lyrics of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, saying that decades later, Nigeria remains trapped in the same cycle of misgovernance.

“Aside from the fact that history is a faithful record of the past, it is also a prophecy of what is coming. That is why Fela’s song is still apt, decades after. Today, I see what led to the collapse of the First and Second republics being repeated by the APC-led Federal Government.”

OSUN DEFENDER reports that President Tinubu departed Nigeria for France on Wednesday, with his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, confirming that he is expected to return in about a fortnight.

However, the purpose of the trip remains unclear, fueling speculations and criticisms from opposition figures like George, who insist that Tinubu’s priorities are misplaced at a time of national crisis.
