The newly installed Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Hastruph, Ajimoko III, has described former Osun State Governor and immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as a politician of rare distinction, whose legacy in governance remains indelible.

The monarch made this declaration while receiving Aregbesola and members of the Omoluabi Caucus of Ijesaland, who paid him homage at the Ogboni Chieftaincy Compound in Ilesa, where the traditional three-month Ipebi seclusion is ongoing for the newly crowned king.

Oba Hastruph commended Aregbesola for his unwavering commitment to the masses and his austere, minimalist lifestyle, which, according to him, sets the former governor apart in Nigerian politics.

The Owa Obokun described Aregbesola as an illustrious son of Ijesaland whose achievements as governor and minister had left a lasting impact.

Speaking at the event, the Ogboni of Ilesa, High Chief Saka Faponhunda, lauded Aregbesola’s steadfastness, integrity, and fearless approach to governance.

He noted that while some may interpret Aregbesola’s no-nonsense attitude as arrogance, it is, in reality, a reflection of the strong-willed and principled nature for which Ijesa people are known.

In his remarks, Aregbesola expressed his deep admiration for Oba Hastruph, describing him as a visionary businessman, a statesman, and a leader with an unmatched love for Ijesaland.

He recounted his personal experiences with the monarch over the past two decades and acknowledged his unwavering support for the development of Ijesaland.

Aregbesola prayed for Oba Hastruph’s reign to bring progress, peace, and prosperity to Ijesaland.

He reaffirmed the pride of the Ijesa people in their new monarch and pledged continued support for the advancement of the land.
