You’re Only Ashamed Of Your Failures – Osun Govt Replies APC Over N159bn Infrastructure Plan Criticism
Osun State Government has fired back at critics questioning the feasibility of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recently unveiled N159 billion infrastructure plan, calling the opposition’s stance a reflection of their failure to address the state’s infrastructure deficit during their tenure.
OSUN DEFENDER earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of deception over its the newly announced N159 billion infrastructure development plan, labeling it a “scam.”
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC described the new plan as an insult to the people of Osun, arguing that the government had failed to deliver on a previous N100 billion infrastructure pledge made in 2023.
The opposition party recalled that Adeleke had promised to construct five flyovers without borrowing and to complete them by the end of 2024.
However, the APC alleged that projects in Okefia, Lameco, and Ile-Ife had stalled, while work had yet to commence at the Ikirun and Owode sites.

Reacting to the criticisms in a statement, Spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, dismissed the opposition’s skepticism, stating that the first phase of the administration’s infrastructure agenda is already between 70 to 80 percent complete, with projects spanning multiple sectors.
“It is only haters of the people that will deny the huge infrastructural development ongoing across various parts of the state. .
“Within the state capital alone, work has never stopped on Oke Fia and Lameco flyovers, as the public can attest. The flyover at Ile Ife is progressing, and video and photographic evidence abound. The Ilesa dualization project is being worked on around the clock, and the Oke Gada bridge is nearing 90 percent completion.”
The government further highlighted that key projects such as the dualization of the Old Garage-Oke Fia-Lameco road have been completed, along with the Ilesa Garage to Stadium Roundabout and the Akoda-Oke Gada dualization.
It said additional 200 health centers have been upgraded, over 100 schools rehabilitated, and 150 kilometers of roads completed across local and urban centers.
Defending the state’s decision to adjust some of its initial plans, the statement explained that the Abere flyover project was put on hold due to the community opting for an alternative road project.
Similarly, it said the Ikirun Junction flyover was replaced with an extension of the road dualization from Ikirun Junction to the Kwara State border, based on local preferences.
“What the APC failed to achieve in four years, Governor Adeleke has delivered in just two,” Rasheed declared.
It added that expert assessments show the Adeleke administration has reduced Osun’s infrastructure deficit by over 45 percent from the 90 percent backlog inherited in 2022.
“To further accelerate development, Governor Adeleke has launched the second phase of the infrastructure plan, valued at N159 billion, covering sectors such as roads, education, and healthcare. Rasheed reaffirmed Adeleke’s commitment to completing all projects, emphasizing that the Governor has a proven record of fulfilling his promises.
“As the first phase was successfully implemented, Governor Adeleke has restated his commitment to completing all the new projects. The Governor has a track record of being a ‘talk and do’ leader,” the statement concluded.
