Zenith Bank Compensates Slain Cops’ Families
Following media reports that the family of the gallant police officer who derailed a bank robbery as seen in a video that has since gone viral, Zenith Bank has said it would foot the bills for the treatment of Sergeant Otu Attang, who lost one of his eyes during the attack and also sponsor the education of the children of the late two cops, Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko and Sergeant Sunday Agbo.
Although the robbery attack happened in February 2017, the video report only surfaced online this June when it was released to the public.
In the video, the gallant Chuwkwudi engaged the robbers in a gun battle from the bank’s security post, shot one robber dead, and later fled as the other robbers rained bullets in this direction. Chukwudi reportedly died the following day from his injuries.
Media investigations on the gallant officer however turned up the awful news of his death, the death of one of h and his family’s hardship consequently.
In an exclusive interview with The PUNCH Newspapers, Chukwudi’s widow, Rose, lamented that one of their eight children, Chukwuebuka, died from shock during the burial of the father.
The PUNCH Newspapers and some social activists, led by Kayode Ogundamisi, in response to the call of readers and Nigerians from different parts of the world, inaugurated a GofundMe account to raise $15,000 for the family, a feat that was achieved within 24 hours.
