Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been recalled to the Swedish national team five years after announcing his retirement.
The AC Milan’s forward recall was based on a newspaper interview he granted in November 2020 where he suggested that he could still play for Sweden if invited.
The former Manchester United and PSG forward has scored 62 goals in 116 internationals appearances with Sweden before quitting after the team’s Euro 2016 group-stage exit.
At 39, Ibrahimovic has 14 goals in 14 Serie A appearances for AC Milan this season.
The prolific scorer responded to his invitation by tweeting: “The return of the god.”
