Zulum Bans Fuel Sales In Bama LGA Over Security Concerns
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has imposed an immediate ban on the sale of fuel across Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and Banki.
Bama, located in northeastern Borno and sharing borders with Chad and Cameroon, has been a hotspot in the fight against insurgency.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s media aide, Dauda Iliya, on Saturday, the ban followed consultations with security agencies as part of efforts to tackle ongoing security threats in the area.
“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area with immediate effect,” Governor Zulum said.
He warned that anyone who violates the directive will face strict legal consequences.
“Let me make it clear—there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban. Security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening this directive. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly,” he added.
Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace in Borno and urged citizens to support government efforts to defeat insurgency.
