A 94-year-old man, Pa Adedapo Idowu, has proven that age is no barrier to education as he takes a bold step towards achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a political scientist.
The nonagenarian has successfully registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professional Test Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State, with hopes of securing admission into the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI).
Speaking with journalists nike revolution 7 after his registration, Idowu expressed gratitude to JAMB for a seamless process, stating that his experience at the centre had dispelled his initial fears.
He lauded the board’s use of modern technology, particularly the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN), which facilitated a smooth registration process.
“I have always dreamed of furthering my education, and I am determined to make that dream a reality. I appreciate JAMB for making this process accessible and inclusive for everyone, irrespective of age or background. Idowu advised fellow UTME candidates to approach their studies with dedication and integrity, urging them to shun examination malpractice and embrace hard work.

“The 2025 UTME registration process has been remarkably smooth, thanks to the commitment of our staff and the efficiency of our system. We remain focused on ensuring fairness, transparency, and excellence in the examination process,” Oloyede stated.
The JAMB boss also warned Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres against engaging in sharp practices, reiterating that any centre found guilty of violating the board’s guidelines would face severe sanctions.
He stressed that biometric verification would be mandatory for all candidates on examination day, and no proxy registrations would be allowed.
