The Secretary of Omoluabi Progressives, Lani Baderinwa, has dismissed the suggestion by Hon. Oluwole Oke that former Osun State Governor, and immediate past Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, should beg President Bola Tinubu to resolve their political rift.
Baderinwa, while featuring on Oro Oselu, a political programme on Rave FM on Monday, reacted to Oke’s post, where the lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency advised Aregbesola to prostrate before Tinubu in a bid to mend their fractured relationship.
OSUN DEFENDER reported that Oke, in a Facebook post on Sunday, suggested that, if he were Aregbesola, he would prostrate before Tinubu to resolve the impasse.
“If I am in his shoes , I will go and beg , prostrate and make peace with my principal PBAT,” he said.
However, Baderinwa dismissed the suggestion, stating that the relationship between Tinubu and Aregbesola goes beyond mere political patronage and that those who are not well-informed are the ones making such recommendations.
“For anyone who does not understand the depth of their relationship, they may think Wole Oke’s suggestion makes sense. But I know there’s more to the matter. Tinubu and Aregbesola have come a long way, and their differences cannot be resolved by such simplistic gestures,” Baderinwa said.

He further clarified that Aregbesola did not curse Tinubu during a political event in Ilesa, as was widely reported. According to him, Aregbesola’s words were taken out of context by those bent on sustaining the rift between the two political figures.
“If you listen carefully to that video, Aregbesola never mentioned Tinubu’s name. We transcribed and published his exact words, but people looking for loopholes twisted his statement to create an issue that never existed,” he explained.
Baderinwa also reiterated that the Omoluabi Progressives have no immediate plans to join any political party, emphasising that their focus remains on mobilizing grassroots support to restore development in Osun State.
“For the past year, we have been going around all local governments, mobilising people. We want to bring back a beneficial government that prioritises development. For now, we are not in a hurry to join any party,” he said.
