Portable Defeats Speed Darlington In Celebrity Boxing Match
Controversial street-pop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, on Friday night defeated Speed Darlington in a celebrity boxing match, winning via technical knockout in the first round.
The much-hyped bout, tagged Chaos In The Ring, held at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, was organised by Game Rush in collaboration with Balmoral Promotions.
Portable, who is known for his wild energy and street anthems, floored his fellow controversial entertainer, Speed Darlington, to lay claim to the self-proclaimed ‘Street King’ crown.
The event received official backing from the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, whose chairman, Rafiu Ladipo, was present at the final weigh-in on Thursday.
Their feud began after Speed Darlington offered Portable a N500,000 performance fee — an offer Portable considered insulting, claiming he charges N20 million for a show.
The back-and-forth soon spilled over to social media, where both artistes traded insults until they agreed to settle their differences in the ring.
This win marks Portable’s second triumph in the boxing world after defeating actor and singer Charles Okocha in December 2023 in a four-round match at Landmark Beach, Lagos.
