Osun NDLEA Laments Drug Abuse, Seeks Traditional Rulers Support
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Osun State Command, has solicited the collaboration of traditional rulers in the state to combat drug abuse.
The state NDLEA Commander, CN Oluwarotimi Lawal Adetula, made the plea during a working visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Wednesday.
Adetula, who was with some officers of the NDLEA, sought the monarch’s support and spiritual blessings in the fight against drug abuse.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Esther Fadare, noted that the visit was also geared towards the upcoming United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
In his remark, Oba Ogunwusi promised to assist the agency in any capacity possible, with the goal of making Osun state and other parts of the country drug-free.
The commander concluded by informing the monarch of a week-long programme of activities lined up for the United Nations Drug-Free Day, which is celebrated globally annually on June 26th, with this year’s theme as “Breaking the Chain; Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery for All.”
