Immigration Stops Senator Natasha At Abuja Airport
Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was briefly stopped by immigration officials at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Thursday morning while attempting to board a flight to the United Kingdom.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who arrived at the international terminal with her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, was informed that her name had been placed on a watch list, preventing her from travelling.
After nearly an hour, she was eventually cleared to board her British Airways flight.
An immigration source confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, saying, “Yes, it is true that the Senator was blocked briefly from travelling.”
Immigration authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
The development comes amid rising tensions between Akpoti-Uduaghan and the National Assembly leadership.
The senator is challenging her recent suspension by the Senate after she openly protested the change of her seating arrangement.
She has also accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, an allegation he has strongly denied.
