Ex-BBN Housemate Threatens Legal Action Against Woman Over Rape Allegation
Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Neo Akpofure, has threatened legal action against a woman who accused him of rape on social media.
The allegation emerged on Tuesday, February 17, when a lady, using the X handle @notralia, claimed she had once been in a casual sexual relationship with Neo while they were students at the University of Calabar.
She alleged that they had agreed to remain friends with benefits, on the understanding that neither would enter a formal relationship. The woman, however, said she later discovered Neo was in a relationship and confronted him at his residence, where she claimed he raped her.
Neo, through his lawyers at E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., issued a formal legal notice on February 18, 2026, denying the allegations.
The firm described the claims as “entirely false, malicious and defamatory,” adding that they had caused serious reputational harm and subjected him to public ridicule.
The notice demanded that Ms. Arikan Udoka, the X user, immediately remove the posts and any related content from all platforms.
It also called for a public retraction and apology, as well as a written assurance that no further defamatory statements would be made.
The lawyers warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would prompt legal action, including the filing of a civil suit for defamation under Nigerian law.
