27-Year-Old Mass Communication Graduate Needs N50m For Kidney Transplant
A 27-year-old graduate of Mass Communication, Adijat Olasumbo Olabisi, has appealed to Nigerians and people across the world to save her from untimely death by assisting her with the money needed for a kidney transplant.
Olabisi, who was diagnosed of chronic kidney ailment, is currently receiving medical treatment at a medical facility in Ghana after she had been treated in many hospitals in Nigeria.
Olabisi, who graduated from Université Protestante de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (UPAO), Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin, is a young woman full of life, with talents in singing and event decoration and dreams of giving back to society.
Alas, she was discovered to have a kidney problem shortly after completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Recalling her travail, the mother of the patient who spoke with this medium on the telephone said “after completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in November 2024, just 10 months later, she was diagnosed with End-Stage Chronic Kidney Disease. She is currently on maintenance hemodialysis and has been evaluated for a renal (kidney) transplant, which is now urgently required to save her life.
“Her condition has progressed to the final stage. A kidney transplant is no longer optional—it is her only chance to live.
“So many investigations have been done. She now undergoes three dialysis sessions every week, costing 3,770 GHC, alongside medications such as: Recombinant Human Erythropoietin Injection (300 GHC), Iron Sucrose Injection (95 GHC)
“In addition, she requires continuous medications, medical consumables, and multidisciplinary follow-up care. All these have placed an overwhelming financial burden on our family. We have exhausted all our resources trying to keep her alive.
“My daughter’s world shattered the day we were told her kidneys are failing. Every time I watch her wince in pain during dialysis, my heart breaks. I wish I could trade places with her—but all I can do now is ask for your help.
“Imagine missing work, missing life, living in pain, hoping for tomorrow. That is her reality.
“She often asks me: “Will I be able to live long enough to take care of you in your old age and give back to society with the talents God has given me?”
“I want to say yes. But without this surgery, I cannot promise her tomorrow.
“After months of battling this disease, doctors have confirmed that a kidney transplant is the only viable option for survival.
“The estimated cost for the transplant (Surgery, Medications and Post-care): $58,000 USD
“Despite all our efforts, we cannot raise this amount alone. Every week of delay means more money spent on dialysis—money we no longer have. If she misses this window, she may return to the waiting list, where many do not survive.
“I know times are hard, and yet you are reading this. That alone gives me hope. She does not just need a donor, she needs a hero, someone who believes her life is worth saving.
“With your help, she can live again. She can regain her strength, return to her dreams, and give back to society and her beloved family,” she added.
She appealed to well spirited people willing to help to send their donations to Hassatu O Olabisi Union Bank Account Number: 0000816099 or Sulaiman Olabisi, wema bank, Account Number: 0289337974
