Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has said he is still awaiting approval from the Federal Government to officially commence operations of his proposed security outfit, the Iru Ekun Security Network, aimed at flushing out criminal elements from forests across the South-West.

He also declared his readiness to comply with the Executive Order recently issued by the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde, which regulates the activities of private security organisations operating within the state.

In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, Igboho said all required documentation for the registration and approval of the Iru Ekun Security Network had already been submitted to the Federal Government, expressing optimism that approval would be granted soon.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a strong commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture, particularly in the South-West.

“We have submitted all the required documents for our registered security firm, Iru Ekun Security Network, and are only waiting for the Federal Government approval which will be granted soon,” the statement read.

“We are absolutely ready to collaborate with the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other relevant stakeholders to flush out terrorists, kidnappers, bandits, and other hoodlums threatening the peace and safety of our people, especially in rural communities,” it added.

He further stated that the Tinubu administration is committed to tackling insecurity across the country, not only in the South-West but in all regions affected by criminal activities.

Igboho also pledged compliance with the new Executive Order by Governor Makinde regulating private security operations in Oyo State, saying his outfit would fully cooperate with state authorities.

“We are ready to support and cooperate with measures aimed at strengthening security and peace in Oyo and other states in Yorubaland,” he said.

He added that without peace and security, socio-economic development cannot thrive, particularly in rural communities that serve as the backbone of agricultural production and food security.
