Osun APC Crisis: Oyetola, Omisore Loyalists Insult Each Other’s Parents Over Resignation

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State worsened on Monday after the resignation of former Commissioner for Education, Mr Folorunso Bamisayemi, triggered a fresh wave of verbal attacks between loyalists of rival factions within the party.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Bamisayemi, a known ally of former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, announced his resignation in a letter dated June 1, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Ward 09, Kere, Ife South Local Government Area.

The letter, which surfaced online Monday, cited “recent political developments” within the Osun APC as reason for his exit.

“After weeks of introspection and reflection on recent political developments within the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, I have resolved to resign my membership of the party with immediate effect,” Bamisayemi wrote.

He added that he remained grateful to the party leadership and members at the state, Ife Federal Constituency, and Ife South LGA levels for past opportunities.

Hours after the resignation letter went public, another Omisore loyalist, Mr Jamiu Olawumi, a former Special Adviser on Education, took to Facebook to react.

In a post, he suggested that the camp of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had compiled a list of party members expected to defect.

“It’s not going to be a surprise to see on social media the list of members the Oyetola group has marked out to leave or be pushed out of the party. We are watching them,” Olawumi wrote.

The comment drew a sharp response from Mr Taiwo Olaore, an aide to Oyetola.

Olaore replied on the same thread, questioning Olawumi’s tone and accusing him of ranting unnecessarily.

“Why the ranting, Boda Jamo?” Olaore asked.

Olawumi fired back with a profanity-laden response that dragged Olaore’s parents into the exchange.

The back-and-forth quickly degenerated into a string of insults between both APC members, drawing condemnation from others who commented on the development.

The public spat highlights deepening divisions within the Osun APC as the party prepares for the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Since losing power to Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2022, the APC has struggled to present a united front, with factions loyal to Oyetola and Omisore frequently at odds over party structure and control.

Political observers say Bamisayemi’s resignation could embolden more defections from the Omisore camp, especially with the governorship poll less than three months away.
