ADC Deregistration: No Cause for Panic, Judgment Can’t Stand — Salaam Tells Supporters

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Salaam, has urged members and supporters of the party to remain calm following the Federal High Court judgment ordering the deregistration of the ADC and four other political parties.

In a statement issued on Monday, Salaam described the judgment as one that could not stand, insisting that it was neither the end of the legal process nor the party’s political journey.

According to him, the Nigerian Constitution provides avenues for appeal and judicial review, expressing confidence that the courts would ultimately protect the democratic rights of Nigerians who have chosen the ADC as their political platform.

“I therefore urge all members of our party, our supporters across the 30 Local Government Areas, the Area Office, and every community in Osun State to remain calm, resolute, and focused. There is absolutely no reason for panic,” he said.

The former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly stated that the ADC in the state had grown beyond a political party and had become a movement driven by the aspirations of the people for competent leadership, transparent governance, economic development, quality education, improved healthcare, and security.

He maintained that no court judgment could extinguish the hopes and aspirations of the people, stressing that the party’s governorship campaign remained on course ahead of the August 15, 2026 election.

Salaam said the increasing support the ADC continues to enjoy from workers, farmers, artisans, students, youths, women, traditional institutions and professionals across the state was evidence that the party’s vision had gained widespread acceptance.

He urged supporters not to be distracted by what he described as attempts by opponents to slow the momentum of a people-driven political movement.

“The August 15, 2026 Governorship Election remains about the future of Osun State. It is about creating jobs for our youths, making education truly accessible, improving healthcare delivery, ensuring security, providing stable electricity, and restoring good governance,” he stated.

Salaam assured party members and residents of Osun State that the ADC would pursue all lawful means to protect its democratic rights, expressing confidence that justice and democracy would prevail.

He called on supporters to remain peaceful, united and steadfast, adding that the party remained committed to its quest to provide a credible alternative for the people of Osun State.
