Budget Presentations: Ife East APC Warns Public Against Impostors
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ife East Area Office of Modakeke, Osun State, has reiterated that Hon. Tunde Lawal is the bona fide chairman of the council.
The APC leadership also disowned a factional chairman of the council, Adekunle Adewumi.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that confusion occurred last week when two factional APC local government chairmen presented separate proposed 2026 budgets for the Ife East Area Office, Modakeke.
While Hon. Tunde Lawal presented a ₦4.81 billion proposed budget tagged “Budget of Liberation and Total Transformation”, another faction led by Adekunle Adewumi, hours later, presented another proposed budget of ₦3.9 billion.
However, a rejoinder by Hon Adepoju Abidemi on Sunday described the budget presentation by Adewumi as “misleading and unlawful”.
The rejoinder read: “The attention of the leadership and people of Ife East Area Office has been drawn to a misleading publication titled ‘LGA boss vows to drive Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda at grassroots level,’ attributed to Hon. Adekunle Adewumi, who lacks the legal and constitutional authority to act or speak as Chairman of the Area Office.”
The statement affirmed that Hon. Lawal Mojeed Tunde is the duly elected, substantive, and legally recognised Executive Chairman of the Ife East Area Office.

“By virtue of this position, he alone is authorised to present the 2026 Budget of the Area Office.
“Any statement, publication, or claims made by unauthorised individuals regarding budgetary matters or governance are deemed misleading and illegitimate, amounting to impersonation and an attempt to usurp official responsibilities.
“Hon. Lawal Mojeed Tunde’s administration remains committed to transparent governance, inclusive leadership, and grassroots development, aligned with progressive ideals for the welfare of the people of Modakeke.
“The public, stakeholders, and media are advised to disregard any claims not originating from the office of the duly recognised Executive Chairman, as such claims lack legal or administrative validity,” it added.
