Headies 2025: Mohbad, Ayra Starr, Odumodu Blvck, Others Dominate Nomination List (Full List)

Nigeria’s most prestigious music awards, The Headies, has released the highly anticipated nomination list for its 17th edition, with Odumodu Blvck leading the pack with five nominations.
The announcement, made on Wednesday, marks the return of the award show after it was postponed in 2024. This year’s event will hold on April 5, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria, following criticism over its previous editions being held in the United States.
Among the notable mentions is the late Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who secured three posthumous nominations, almost two years after his tragic passing in September 2023.
Ayra Starr, who won the Best Female Artiste award in 2022, also received three nominations, as did Shallipopi, one of the breakout stars of the past year.
Rookie of the Year Battle
The competition for Rookie of the Year is set to be intense, with rising stars Taves, Zerrydl, Kaestyle, and Llona vying for the coveted title.
Other categories include Best Recording of the Year, Best Rap Single, Producer of the Year, and Best Collaboration, among others.
The Headies remains a symbol of excellence in the Nigerian music industry, recognising both local and international talents for their contributions.
