The campaign council of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, has hit back at Governor Ademola Adeleke over his directive that the state police command should arrest those vandalising public properties across the state.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Adeleke had earlier accused the APC of sponsoring thugs of vandalising properties belonging to the Accord Party.

Adeleke asked the police to immediately effect the arrest of Asiri Eniba and his gangs who were allegedly terrorising the state.

But the APC in a statement by Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, head, Media and Publicity Committee,
Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, said the recent vandalisation of Governor Adeleke’s billboards was a fallout of internal disagreements among cult groups allegedly mobilised by the governor’s family members, including his nephew, Davido, and some of the governor’s children during their recent visit to Osogbo.

“The disagreement reportedly centred on the sharing formula of money allegedly handed to the groups after being hired for political activities.

“Those who felt cheated in the sharing arrangement allegedly turned against one another, leading to attacks and destruction of the governor’s own campaign materials.

“What happened was therefore self-induced— a direct consequence of the culture of criminality, thuggery and brigandage tolerated and encouraged within the political camp of the governor and his Accord Party. It is purely an internal crisis within the Adeleke political structure, and the APC must not be falsely accused or dragged into their chaos,” Omowaiye noted.

Omowaiye further alleged that Governor Adeleke was shielding individuals who were declared wanted by the police.

“One of such individuals is Olalekan Emir Ajagungbade, a Special Assistant to Governor Adeleke, who is on the wanted list of the police. Emir Ajagungbade, after being granted bail over allegations bordering on murder, kidnapping and terrorism, is currently on the run but allegedly being shielded within the corridors of the Government House at Okefia.

“Security sources have also linked Emir Ajagungbade to the coordination and vandalisation of campaign billboards and promotional materials belonging to our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO),” the statement noted.
