Osun People Should Forgive Me For Supporting An ‘Incompetent’ Adeleke In 2022 – Wole Oke
- Says Governor Failed In Education, Health Sector
The Director General of the campaign council of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Hon. Wole Oke, has said Governor Ademola Adeleke conducted the 2025 local government elections despite his warnings, noting that the Appeal Court reinstated the APC council officials.
Oke who was a guest at a Yoruba radio programme in Osogbo on Monday, also said the governor refused his advice to approach the Supreme Court following the Court of Appeal Judgment.
The APC chieftain noted that Adeleke’s administration was wrong to have conducted the February 22, 2025, local government elections without approaching the Supreme Court.
He said, “The Appeal court asked the APC council chairmen to go back to their councils. Following the judgment, Governor Adeleke asked the Minister of Justice for advice on the issue and the Minister advised him that the state should not conduct another local government election.
“I also called Dr Deji Adeleke, Yeye Dupe-Sanni Adeleke and Governor Ademola Adeleke and advised them to let us go to the Supreme Court. They told me that they can’t speak on it until they speak with the Attorney General of the state, Wole Bada SAN.
“After that, Bada called me and told me that they will not appeal the judgment at the Supreme Court. I tried to convince him but to no avail.
“Had it been the PDP and the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke went to the Supreme Court then and applied for a stay of execution, it was only then that they had the opportunity to conduct the February 22, 2025, local government elections. That election conducted under Adeleke’s administration is not right. It does not conform to the law.”
Speaking further, Oke alleged that some local government staff working for the current administration, stole the documents which ought to be used for the payment of workers under the local governments in the state.
“Some of the local government workers working in collaboration with the government of Ademola Adeleke stole the documents containing the list of local government workers and made it difficult for the local government chairmen to pay their salaries,” he noted.
Oke said Adeleke’s administration has failed in the area of Education and Health, noting that parents are now scared to send their wards to public schools in the state.
“Adeleke has failed in the Education and Health sectors. Ask the current administration to release the number of staff he appointed to the hospitals in the state,” the APC campaign DG stated.
He however, apologises to Osun people for supporting the emergence of Governor Adeleke in 2022.
“I was the one who bought the governorship form for Adeleke and I know how much I spent for him to win that election. I needed to apologise and seek forgiveness from Osun people for allowing someone who is not competent to become the governor,” Oke said.
Efforts to get the reaction of the state government proved abortive as calls to the governor’s spokesperson were not answered and messages sent to him were not replied to as at the time of filing this report.
