- Says PDP Celebrating Own Failure Over CBN Request For Court Of Appeal Judgement CTC
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the state government of an attempt to bribe workers of the Central Bank of Nigeria to gain favour in the ongoing local government war in the state.
This was as the party chided the state government for celebrating the correspondence of the Central Bank of Nigeria to its reinstated local government chairmen.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the CBN had, through a letter dated April 07, 2025, asked the APC local government chairmen to provide the Certified True Copy of the Court of Appeal, which reportedly reinstated them.
This was in response to an earlier letter written by the reinstated APC chairmen to the CBN asking the apex bank to recognize them as the authentic council bosses and pay the federal allocation to them.

But the APC, while reacting to the PDP in a statement by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, said there was nothing to celebrate in the letter of reply, adding that their request has not been turned down.
“This simple administrative request for clarity is what some nattering nitwits are celebrating on social media as though our request has been turned down,” the statement said.
The statement further read, “We are aware of the desperation of the officials of the state government to (like they did to some judges and judiciary workers in Osun State) bribe and compromise some amenable officers of the CBN with hefty money drawn from the state coffers.
“We are, however, delighted that the leadership of the bank has been truly professional and patriotic by blocking the shenanigans and rejecting the pressure of the state officials to destroy the corporate image of the bank with filthy personal and pecuniary gains.
“The reinstated APC local government council chairmen and councillors, under the leadership of the state chairman of the Association of Local Governments Of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. “So when has the official request for additional information by the apex bank on the issue at stake amounted to a rejection of the legitimate pursuit of the reinstated council chairmen and councillors?
“The Osun State Government, instead of availing the public with the content of a letter from the Federal Ministry of Justice, admonishing Governor Adeleke to obey the Court of Appeal judgement reinstating our chairmen and councillors, it is busy weaponizing the polity with fake news for selfish interest.
“A government with integrity would have ceased further action following the recent communication of the Federal Ministry of Justice, which dealt a debilitating blow on whatever hope the government might have to return to the local government.”
