LG Polls: Osun Police Assures Voters of Safety

In the wake to the upcoming February 22, local government elections in Osun State, the state Police Command has assured residents of adequate security before, during, and after the polls.

Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Yemisi Opalola, stated that the police have put in place necessary measures to protect lives and property throughout the electoral process.

She emphasized that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has deployed mobile police personnel to the state to reinforce security and ensure a smooth, hitch-free election.

“The Police, alongside other security agencies, will be present at all polling stations across the state to maintain order and prevent any disruption.

“Patrol teams will also be deployed on the roads to deter violence and attacks on voters,” she said.

Opalola urged registered voters to come out and exercise their civic rights without fear, assuring them that adequate security would be provided to prevent intimidation or threats.

She encouraged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel to ensure a peaceful election process.
