LP Moves To Expel Peter Obi Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities
The factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has announced that the party is preparing to convene a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to expel Peter Obi for alleged anti-party activities.
Arabambi, who made the revelation during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Tuesday, accused the 2023 presidential candidate of the party of violating the constitution by associating with two political parties simultaneously.
“We’re convening a NEC meeting where Peter Obi will be expelled. You know he was on suspension before he went ahead to do the anti-party activities. You don’t go and join a political party, and at the same time still put your leg in another political party. He knows it’s unconstitutional to belong to two political parties at the same time,” Arabambi said.
He also alleged that Obi ignited the crisis within the Labour Party and questioned his leadership credentials.
According to Arabambi, Obi’s open support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition further justifies disciplinary action against him.
However, Obi has dismissed the claim that he defected from the LP.
OSUN DEFENDER reported that in a recent interview, the former Anambra State governor maintained that he is not a member of the ADC but only supports the coalition as a movement.
Obi also reiterated his ambition to contest for the presidency again in 2027, insisting that he is fully qualified to lead Nigeria.
