NBA Picks Julius Malema As Keynote Speaker For 2025 Conference In Enugu
The Nigerian Bar Association has named Julius Malema, leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters, as keynote speaker at its 2025 Annual General Conference, holding in Enugu later this month.
The gathering, billed for August 22 to 29 at the International Conference Centre, will draw lawyers, policymakers and thought leaders to discuss the future of the legal profession and governance in Africa.
This year’s theme, “Stand Out, Stand Tall,” is designed to push conversations on bold leadership, accountability and innovation within and outside the bar.
Malema, famous for his fiery stance on economic justice, Pan-Africanism and governance reform, is expected to deliver a hard-hitting address that matches the NBA’s vision.
The association had first announced him as the keynote speaker in March.
Malema is one of the continent’s most outspoken politicians. As EFF leader, he has campaigned for policies to tackle inequality and overhaul South Africa’s economic structure. But he has also courted controversy.
In 2012, he was expelled from the African National Congress for bringing the party into disrepute.
He has twice been convicted of hate speech, including for singing the liberation song Dubul (“Shoot the Boer”), and faced corruption and fraud charges, many of which were thrown out amid allegations of political witch-hunt.
Even so, Malema remains a magnetic figure, admired by many for his fearless style, radical ideas and his ability to mobilise young people and marginalised groups across the continent.
