Students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife are gearing up to begin the first-semester examination for the 2023/2024 academic session, amidst the lingering economic hardship in the country.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the management of the university released the exam timetable on Friday, February 2nd. According to the schedule, the examination will run from Monday, February 12 till March 09, 2024.
One of the students of the institution, Adegbite Mudathir, while speaking to OSUN DEFENDER, noted that preparing for the exam at this period when the cost of living is becoming unbearable would be very difficult.
Another student, Mubashi Adigun stated that the precarious economic situation will adversely affect her preparations, hampering the students to fully concentrate on their studies.
“Absolutely. You see, the tough economic times we’re facing right now are starting to affect my preparation for the upcoming exam. To do well, you need to be fully prepared, right? That means studying hard, taking care of yourself by eating properly, getting enough rest, and staying focused.
“But with everything getting more expensive. The high cost of foodstuffs, transportation, and other necessities are making it harder to concentrate on studying.”
“It’s like a vicious cycle: the more the economy struggles, the more it affects my ability to perform well in the exam.”
