The billboard, located inside the military barracks, is considered a serious safety hazard.

Despite previous incidents, a soil test is currently being conducted at the site, indicating that reinstallation could take place next week.

They allege that officers accepted money from the billboard owner, Radius Resources, to allow the project to proceed.

A statement from concerned residents highlighted the dangers: “The billboard’s impact severely damaged the building’s roof and caused the barracks’ fence to collapse. Those who narrowly escaped death that night would never underestimate the danger inherent in the installation of gigantic billboards close to houses. Those residing or working in the area, including pedestrians along Funsho Jordan Boys Shoes Williams Avenue air jordan 4 military blue 2024, heaved a sigh of relief when the collapsed billboard was dismantled and put in a heap by the roadside.

“Unfortunately, this relief has become temporary as a soil test currently being conducted beside the failed billboard foundation foretells a return of the billboard. The safety around a newly constructed auditorium in the barracks will be compromised.

“There is discontentment in the area. If God has saved people from premature death twice, why should His protection be tested a third time?

“Love of money has relegated safety. How much will the Nigerian Army generate from a life-threatening commercial billboard that could be equated to a human life? While a soldier’s life might be uncertain at the war front, in the barracks, a soldier and his family deserve a peaceful and secure environment.

“It is learnt that the owner of the billboard is a very influential woman whose requests are hardly refused in the army. “For safety reasons, massive billboards should be located away from buildings so as not to endanger the lives of the occupants, especially during the rainy season.

“Living in a building beneath an enormous billboard brings constant worry and disturbed sleep. Those who experienced the billboard collapse are still traumatised. The impending reinstallation of the old, rickety billboard is already a hot topic in the Ojuelegba community.

“On this note, passionate appeal is hereby made to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Director General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola; and Managing Director, Lagos State Signage & Advertisement Agency, Prince Fatiu Akiolu, to ensure that this dangerous billboard is not returned to its former location inside Abalti Barracks.
