Peter Obi Failed In Anambra, Can’t Compete With Tinubu – Presidency
The Presidency on Wednesday dismissed comparisons between former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and President Bola Tinubu, insisting that Obi’s record in office does not measure up to that of the Nigerian leader.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said in a post on his X handle that Obi is a “copy-and-paste politician” who lacks original and authentic thinking.
He argued that Obi left no notable legacy after his eight years as governor of Anambra State, adding that his successor, Willie Obiano, had accused him of failing in the area of security.
“Peter Obi has never shown original, authentic thinking. He is a copy-and-paste politician. That explains why he has nothing to showcase as Anambra governor for eight years,” Onanuga said.
He also stated, “Willie Obiano, his successor, said Obi failed spectacularly in providing security in the state.”
The presidential aide contrasted Obi’s tenure with that of Tinubu as governor of Lagos State, saying the President established enduring institutions and development frameworks that continue to shape governance and growth in the state.
“In contrast with Governor Tinubu in Lagos, Tinubu left LAWMA, LASTMA, LAMATA, RRS, a rail and road masterplan, which is still being executed to this day,” he said.
Onanuga further maintained that Nigeria needs visionary leadership capable of long-term thinking, describing Tinubu as “a proven deep thinker and doer.”
“Nigeria deserves a leader who can see beyond the ken of the ordinary people, a leader who is a proven deep thinker and doer. Peter Obi is no match for President Bola Tinubu. They are not on the same level,” he stated.
