Gunmen on Tuesday evening invaded Ora-Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Council Area of Osun State, abducting the council vice-chairman, Debo Faroumbi.
Sources said the gunmen who stormed the community shot sporadically into the air and creating panic in the town.
The gunmen, it was gathered, picked four residents, including two Fulani women, a resident and Mr Faroumbi.
However, the gunmen were quickly resisted by the military stationed in the town who relentlessly pursued the assailants, forcing them to abandon three of the victims and whisk away the council officials into the forest.
Confirming the incident, Osun State Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said the victim is the Ifedayo council vice chairman, adding that the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects with a view to rescuing the victim.
