A United Nations official and rights advocate, Mr Olufemi Aduwo, has faulted recent claims that the former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, betrayed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that the ex-governor’s political rise was not solely dependent on the president’s support.

Aduwo, who serves as the Permanent Representative of the Centre for Convention on Democratic Integrity (CCDI) to the United Nations and doubles as President of the Rights Monitoring Group, made this known in an open letter addressed to Comrade Olushola Matthew on Monday.

2. Blackout: Ila-Orangun Youths Postpone Protest, Await IBEDC Transformer

Youths in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, under the aegis of Ila-Orangun Voice of the Youth (IVY), have postponed their planned protest earlier scheduled to demand the restoration of electricity supply in the ancient town, citing a fresh promise from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

In a public notice issued on Monday evening, the group announced a new date of Friday, 30th May 2025, for the demonstration, should IBEDC fail to deliver a 7.5KV transformer to the town as promised.

The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji, has declared his ambition to contest the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

Oyebamiji, a loyalist of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, launched his governorship bid during a visit to the APC state secretariat in Osogbo, on Tuesday.
