U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order banning transgender women from competing in women’s sports, fulfilling a key promise made during his 2024 election campaign.

The executive order, titled Keeping Набор спортивных бутылок для воды 3 в 1 обьемом 300мл 900 мл 2 л (52303) _ttar — цена 378 грн в каталоге Бутылки ✓ Купить товары для дома и быта по доступной цене на Шафе , Украина #179557101 Men Out of Women’s Sports, was signed in a ceremony in the White House’s East Room, where Trump was joined by female athletes and young girls in sports uniforms.

Trump, speaking at the event, declared, “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over.”

The order invokes Title IX, a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in educational programmes receiving government funding.

The new directive extends this law to private sports organisations, effectively barring transgender women from competing in women’s sports.

The order overturns a previous interpretation of Title IX under the Biden administration, which permitted transgender athletes to compete in line with their gender identity.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump emphasised that the executive order was in line with a campaign pledge, stating, “WITH THIS EXECUTIVE ORDER, THE WAR ON WOMEN’S SPORTS IS OVER! PROMISES MADE, PROMISES KEPT!!”

He added, “Under the Trump Administration, we will defend the proud tradition of female athletes. From now on, women’s sports will be ONLY FOR WOMEN!

“We are putting every school receiving taxpayer dollars on notice: If you let men take over women’s sports teams or invade your locker rooms, you will be investigated for violations of Title IX and risk your federal funding.”

A White House official explained the administration’s stance, stating, “If you’re going to provide opportunities for women, then you have to preserve women’s sports for women.”
