The management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, has debunked reports alleging poor staff welfare, describing them as “false and unfounded.

In a statement by the Head of Corporate Service and Information Unit, Babatunde Fanowopo, the management said the report, which came out in some media outlets, does not reflect the true position of staff welfare in the University.

“Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report currently circulating in some media outlets, alleging poor staff welfare at the University of Ilesa.”

“Management wishes to state categorically that the report is false, unfounded, and does not reflect the true position of staff welfare in the University,” the statement read.

The management said the report that the school was owing staff salaries was not true, adding that the state government has paid the salaries and allowances of all categories of staff up to May 2026.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Osun State Government has paid the salaries and allowances of all categories of staff up to May 2026. No member of staff of the University is owed any salary or emolument,” Fanawopo stated.

“Furthermore, as part of its sustained commitment to improving staff welfare, the Osun State Government recently approved the implementation of the reviewed salary structure for academic staff of the University of Ilesa.

“In line with this approval, all academic staff will begin to enjoy the new salary scale with effect from June 2026, and all accrued arrears will be fully paid,” the statement added.

The University management said it prioritises staff development and working conditions.

It reassured the staff, students, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its workforce and the continued pursuit of academic excellence.

“The University has also sustained prompt promotion exercises and payment of promotion arrears where applicable.

“The University Management therefore reassures all staff, students, parents, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its workforce and the continued pursuit of academic excellence,” the statement said.

While appreciating the state government, the management said the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has consistently supported the University and provided attention to its needs of the University.
